Nick Warr use to make films and use to look good in pastel
colours, He now does neither convincingly.
The slides here are derived from a series digital video projects that
seek to explore how we remember films and how those memories can
provide us with ways in which to re-interpret the occurrence of our
own memories. In this respect I am interested in the films that
affect people during particularly receptive periods of their lives,
for me personally, this involves the sub genre of American teen
dramas. By reviewing and reorganizing how the characters interact
with the spaces depicted in these movies I try to comprehend, through
my work, the nature and incidence of the memories we have of the
places where we grew up. In other words, by offering us memories of
events in which we did not actually participate, films can provide
us with insights into what links the daydreaming of our pasts and
nostalgia of our presents. That and the never ending quest to
justify my love of rom-coms.
Now write 'I Love You' on your eyelids and sit at the front of the
class...
